KENT D. SAVRE
Colonel, Engineer
From 1995-1997 Colonel Savre served as a
project engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District. In 1998 he
joined 1st Infantry Division, Wurzburg, Germany as Assistant Division Engineer
and deployed to Camp Able Sentry, Macedonia as the Task Force Saber Engineer. He
led the Division's Initial Entry Force into Kosovo in June 1999 and again
deployed to Kosovo as the 82nd Engineer Battalion Executive Officer in support
of KFOR. In 2000 he was assigned as the 1st Infantry Division Engineer Brigade
S3 and served the following year as Brigade Executive Officer. In 2002, Colonel
Savre was assigned as the Assistant Corps Engineer for I Corps, Fort Lewis,
Washington. In May 2003, he deployed to Iraq and assumed command of the 864th
Engineer Battalion executing the spectrum of engineer missions in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2005-2007 Colonel Savre served as Director of the
Counter Explosive Hazards Center at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri focused on rapid
solutions to the improvised explosive device threat. In 2008 he assumed command
of the 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas and deployed the Brigade
Headquarters to Iraq in March of 2010 as the United States Forces-Iraq Theater
Engineer Brigade. He is currently serving as Director, Office of the Chief of
Engineers in the Pentagon. Colonel Savre is a graduate of the Engineer Officer
Basic and Advanced Course, the Army Combined Arms Services Staff School and the
Command and General Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Construction Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, a Master of
Science degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University, and a
Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College. His military
awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star medal (3), Meritorious Service
Medal (5), Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign medal, the Global
War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal and the Kuwaiti
Liberation Medal. He is also a recipient of the Army Engineer Association's
Bronze Order of the DeFleury Medal.
Colonel Kent Savre is a native of Edina, Minnesota and received his commission
in the United States Army as an engineer officer upon graduation from Officer
Candidate School in July 1985. His career began in the 17th Engineer Battalion,
2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas as a platoon leader, company executive
officer and adjutant. He then served as S4 of the 864th Engineer Battalion, Fort
Lewis, Washington and deployed to Southwest Asia in 1990 for Operation Desert
Shield/Storm where he assumed command of Bravo Company. Following command he
served as the 555th Engineer Brigade plans officer then Aide-de-Camp to the I
Corps Deputy Commanding General.
