Travel

The Agency's mission requires its auditors to travel to audit sites. These assignments are challenging and take the auditor to interesting and exciting locations.

Because audit work requirements vary, audit sites are usually at locations other than the auditor's official duty station. The Agency pays for official travel, however, the amount of travel depends on the audit, functional team, and field office the auditor is assigned to. At times, auditors may be required to travel up to 80%. The type of travel (local or over-night) also depends on the audit work requirements. An auditor may be required to travel locally which entails traveling to the audit site and returning home everyday. On the other hand, an auditor may be required to travel over-night (commonly referred to as "TDY" or temporary duty). This type of travel can vary from a one or two night stay to as long as several weeks. As resources become scarce and audit teams use the latest technology, managers are finding smarter and more efficient ways to accomplish their mission with less travel.
