Student Position

 

Position: Student Trainee Auditor (0599 Series)

Salary: Varies Depending on Location

Work Schedule: Flexible (Part-time or Full-time depending on school schedule)

ABOUT THE POSITIONS:

The positions are located throughout the United States with the U.S. Army Audit Agency, a civilian Federal government agency whose mission is to serve America's Army by providing objective and independent auditing and consulting services. As a student auditor trainee, you will perform a variety of supporting tasks assigned in the conduct of audits that will provide experience in the practical application of accounting and auditing principles, procedures, and techniques. These positions may involve travel when you are not attending school.

You will be eligible to participate in Federal health benefits, life insurance, retirement, and a Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and will earn vacation and sick leave.

These positions are being filled through our Student Career Experience Program (SCEP). The program allows students to gain valuable experience while pursuing their degree. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, you may be eligible to be converted to a full-time permanent appointment as a Federal employee, with greater promotion potential and a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Basic Qualification Requirements:

  • You must be enrolled in a curriculum leading to a Bachelor's Degree on at least a part-time basis and be pursuing a degree in Accounting or in a closely-related business field of study.
  • You must have completed at least two years education above high school or have received an Associate's Degree in the field of Auditing or a related business field.
  • You should be prepared to complete at least 640 work hours prior to the completion of your degree requirements. The work schedules for these positions are flexible and the student generally works during the summer or school breaks.
  • You must have an overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent and have a grade of "C" or above in all major fields of study.

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • You must sign an Employer/Student Agreement. This document serves as a mutual agreement between the student and the Agency on the nature of work assignments, working schedules, evaluation procedures, and requirements for continuation and successful completion of the Program.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain at least a secret level security clearance.
  • You must be able and willing to travel when not in school.
  • You must be a US citizen or national (residents of American Samoa or Swains Islands) at the time of your conversion.
  • You will be required to enroll in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within 60 days following the effective date of your employment.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System, or are exempt from having to do so under the Selective Service Law.
  • Priority consideration will be given to those with veteran's preference.
  • This position is in the excepted service. It is excluded from provisions of the career transition assistance program.
